Hiring Case: Hiring a Project Manager for a VR Startup

A year ago, our team had a standout moment that truly demonstrated our commitment to finding the right people.

This startup has been with us for a long time, and we've helped them fill roles in marketing, the art department, and development.

With a team of 20 to 30 people, their atmosphere was incredibly warm and friendly, even though they were spread out across different locations. We work closely with them to ensure each new hire is the perfect fit.

This time, they needed a Project Manager, and we knew the specific soft skills that they were looking for in the candidate.

After looking through lots of resumes, and interviewing numerous professionals, we picked four candidates who met the role requirements, and then introduced them to the client.

The client ended up choosing a person with strong soft skills, experience in leading teams, great references, and salary expectations that matched the role’s budget.

Despite their qualifications, we didn’t feel that there was that perfect match. However, the client decided to move forward and make an offer.

There's always pressure to fill a position quickly, especially when a specialist is needed urgently. Since the client wasn’t entirely sure about their choice, we weren’t fully satisfied with the outcome either.

Before finalizing the offer, we decided to continue our search. On the day the client was supposed to make the offer, we interviewed another candidate who seemed to be an ideal fit. We strongly believed that they could be exactly what the startup needed.

We suggested the client to wait a bit longer and meet the new candidate. They agreed, even though it would lead to a slight delay in their workflows.

The meeting went so well that the client offered the job right away.

A year later, this candidate is thriving in their role at the company. Both the company and the candidate are extremely happy with how things turned out.
